Women's padel 2026: Triay and Brea hold No 1, but González-Josemaría and Sánchez-Ustero stay close

Key points
  • Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea are joint No 1 on 15,700 points (FIP ranking, 12 October) and have won six titles in 2026.
  • Bea González and Paula Josemaría also have six titles, including a record five in a row capped in Buenos Aires on 17 May.
  • Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero have four titles, among them the Paris Major (6-2 6-0 over Fernández and Calvo).
  • Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo won London and the Germany P2 and reached the Paris Major final.

Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea are the joint women's world No 1s in mid-October 2026, with six Premier Padel titles this season. Their lead is real but slim: Bea González and Paula Josemaría have also won six, and Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero hold the season's Paris Major title.

Triay and Brea: six titles after a rocky spring

The top seeds started well, winning the Gijón and Cancún P2s in March. Then came the hardest stretch of their partnership: five finals in a row lost to González and Josemaría, in Miami, NewGiza, Brussels, Asunción and Buenos Aires.

The run ended at the Italy Major in early June, where they beat Sánchez and Ustero 6-1 7-5 to keep their Rome title. "Winning this tournament is hugely important for us after losing five consecutive finals," Triay told the FIP. They went on to win the Málaga and Pretoria P1s and, in September, their first Madrid P1 as a pair, beating González and Josemaría in three sets after losing the first on a tie-break. That was their sixth title of the year.

The second half has still had its setbacks. Claudia Jensen and Tamara Icardo, the fifth seeds, beat them 3-6 6-1 6-1 in the Bordeaux P2 final in July, Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo beat them in the London P1 final in August, and the same young pair knocked them out of the Paris Major semi-finals 6-4 6-2.

González and Josemaría's record streak

Bea González and Paula Josemaría produced the most remarkable run of the season. Their 6-3 7-5 win over Triay and Brea in Buenos Aires on 17 May was their fifth consecutive title, which Premier Padel called a first for a women's team in its history. They added a sixth at the Valladolid P2 in June, beating Sánchez and Ustero 6-4 6-2.

That match had extra edge: Josemaría and Sánchez were long-time partners before splitting. Since Valladolid, however, González and Josemaría have not added another title, losing the Madrid final to Triay and Brea and the Rotterdam final 6-4 6-4 to Sánchez and Ustero.

Sánchez and Ustero, and the rise of Calvo and Fernández

Sánchez and Ustero have four titles: the Riyadh P1, where they beat Brea and Triay in the season's first final, the Valencia P1, the Paris Major and the Rotterdam P2. Paris, a 6-2 6-0 win over Fernández and Calvo, was their first Major as a pair, even though Ustero had missed the Málaga and Pretoria events through injury. "Today we played a ten out of ten," Sánchez said, as quoted by Premier Padel.

The breakout story belongs to Fernández and Calvo. London, only their second tournament together, gave them a first title, and both Padel Addict and Padel Magazine reported that they became the youngest pair ever to win a professional title, with Calvo aged 18. They reached the Paris Major final and then won the Germany P2 on 11 October, beating Sánchez and Ustero 6-3 6-0. They have now reached a final at every level of the tour: P2, P1 and Major.

Rankings in October and what comes next

The FIP ranking of 12 October has Triay and Brea level on 15,700 points. González is third with 13,700, Sánchez fourth with 12,990, Josemaría fifth with 12,520, Fernández sixth with 11,830, Ustero seventh with 10,835 and Calvo eighth with 7,705. In the season Race, Triay and Brea lead with 11,660 points, ahead of Sánchez and Ustero (9,040) and González and Josemaría (9,020).

What it means: Triay and Brea are the most consistent pair, but five different pairs have won titles in 2026 and three have a realistic claim on the year-end No 1 spot. The Milano P1 this week, the Kuwait Major (26–31 October), the Dubai P1, the Mexico Major (23–29 November) and the Finals in Barcelona will settle it. Follow every move on our padel rankings page.
