Key points
  • Riyadh P1 (14 Feb): Coello and Tapia beat Galán and Chingotto 6-4 6-2; Sánchez and Ustero won on their debut as a pair.
  • Miami P1 (29 Mar): Galán and Chingotto beat Coello and Tapia 7-5 3-6 6-3; González and Josemaría won their first title together.
  • Buenos Aires P1 (17 May): Galán and Chingotto won 6-2 6-1 over the No 1s, their fifth title from the season's first eight events.
  • González and Josemaría won Miami, Giza, Brussels, Asunción and Buenos Aires, the first women's pair to win five Premier Padel titles in a row.

The first half of the 2026 Premier Padel season ran from Riyadh in February to Buenos Aires in May, and its three P1 tournaments produced three different men's and women's storylines. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia opened with a title, but by mid-May Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto had beaten them in four finals, while Bea González and Paula Josemaría became the first women's pair in the tour's history to win five tournaments in a row.

Riyadh: the No 1s start fast, a new pair wins at once

The season opened at the Riyadh P1, where the finals were played on Saturday 14 February. Coello and Tapia beat Galán and Chingotto 6-4 6-2 in about 65 minutes, a fourth consecutive title for the world No 1s according to Red Bull's report. The win also lifted Tapia, with 54 titles, past Galán as the most decorated active player on the circuit.

The women's final introduced a partnership that would matter all year. Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero, playing their first event together, came from a set down to beat top seeds Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay 3-6 6-1 6-4. Ustero, 18, collected her first P1 title. "We had plenty of chances, but we stayed composed in the end," Sánchez told Red Bull.

Miami: Galán and Chingotto turn the tables

The Miami P1, which ended on 29 March, was a good day for the second seeds in both draws. Galán and Chingotto beat Coello and Tapia 7-5 3-6 6-3, a few weeks after also beating them in the Gijón P2 final and a week after an early exit in Cancún. The title put Galán level with Tapia on 55 career titles.

In the women's event, Bea González and Paula Josemaría won their first trophy as a pair at the fourth attempt, edging Brea and Triay 6-3 4-6 7-5. Brea and Triay had beaten them in the Cancún final a week earlier; they would not beat them again before the summer.

A spring of P2s and one cancelled Major

April's Qatar Major in Doha did not take place because of the conflict in the region, which left the spring to the P2 events. González and Josemaría won all three of them, in Giza, Brussels and Asunción. "What we are experiencing is the result of our work and our unity," González told the FIP after Brussels, where they beat Brea and Triay 7-5 6-2.

The men's P2s were more varied. Galán and Chingotto won in Giza, where Coello and Tapia did not play, and beat the No 1s again in the Asunción final. In Brussels, Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger won their first title together, coming from a set down to beat Coello and Tapia 2-6 6-3 6-3.

Buenos Aires: a record crowd and two statements

The Buenos Aires P1 at Parque Roca closed the spring on Sunday 17 May, after a record 16,920 spectators had attended semi-final day, according to Premier Padel. Galán and Chingotto, who did not drop a set all week, beat Coello and Tapia 6-2 6-1. It was their fifth title from the season's first eight tournaments, their third straight win over the No 1s and their fourth win over them in five 2026 meetings, by Padel Addict's count.

González and Josemaría then beat Brea and Triay 6-3 7-5, the sixth straight tournament in which the season's two leading pairs had met in the final. It was the Spaniards' fifth title in a row, a first for a women's team on Premier Padel.

What it meant going into the summer

Galán and Chingotto left Argentina leading the season Race, with Padel Addict estimating the gap over Coello and Tapia at around 790 points. In the women's game, González and Josemaría had won every event from Miami to Buenos Aires, while Brea and Triay had reached almost every final without converting. The spring's balance did not last: Coello and Tapia beat their rivals in the Italy Major final in early June and went on to dominate the summer, as the current rankings show.
