Premier Padel completed its last P2 tournament of 2026 in Düsseldorf on 11 October, closing a run of nine second-tier events that began in Gijón in March. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia won five of the nine men's titles, while the women's P2s produced five different champion pairs.
Spring: Galán and Chingotto set the pace
The first five P2s, from March to May, belonged largely to Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto. They beat Coello and Tapia 7-5 7-6 in the Gijón P2 final, beat Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas 6-4 6-1 in New Giza and beat the world No 1s again 6-3 7-5 in Asunción. The New Giza title also put them on top of the 2026 Race. "We improved our level day by day," Galán said after Gijón, as reported by the FIP.
Coello and Tapia's only spring P2 title came in Cancún, where they came from a set down to beat Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger 6-7 6-3 7-5. A month later Lebrón and Augsburger reversed that result in the Brussels P2 final, winning 2-6 6-3 6-3 for their first title as a pair.
The women's spring P2s were a two-pair contest. Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea won Gijón, beating Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero 6-4 6-7 6-3 in a final of more than three hours, then beat Paula Josemaría and Bea González 7-6 6-1 in Cancún. Josemaría and González then won the next three P2 finals against them: 6-4 5-7 6-4 in New Giza, 7-5 6-2 in Brussels and 4-6 6-3 6-3 in Asunción, a win that took them to the top of the women's Race.
Summer: the No 1s take over
From June the men's P2s changed hands. Coello and Tapia beat Galán and Chingotto 6-4 6-3 in Valladolid, where Chingotto needed medical attention in the second set, and 5-7 7-6 6-2 in the Bordeaux P2. They then won Rotterdam 6-3 6-2 and Düsseldorf 6-2 7-6, both against Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz. The Germany P2 was their 11th title of the season, the FIP reported, and their third in a row after the Paris Major and Rotterdam.
The women's draws were more open. Josemaría and González beat Sánchez and Ustero 6-4 6-2 in Valladolid, their sixth title of the year. In Bordeaux, fifth seeds Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen, who had lost all nine previous meetings with Triay and Brea, beat the top seeds 3-6 6-1 6-1. Sánchez and Ustero won Rotterdam 6-4 6-4 against Josemaría and González, and Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo beat Sánchez and Ustero 6-3 6-0 in Düsseldorf for their first P2 title, after the London P1.
Why the P2s matter
A P2 champion earns 600 ranking points, against 1,000 for a P1 and 2,000 for a Major, according to Red Bull's breakdown of the ranking rules. That makes the P2s the cheapest route to a first title for a new team, and the 2026 list shows it: Lebrón and Augsburger, Icardo and Jensen and the Fernández-Calvo partnership all won P2s this year, and Stupaczuk and Sanz, together only since August, reached the Rotterdam and Düsseldorf finals.
For the top pairs, the P2s decide the Race in the gaps between the big events. Galán and Chingotto led it after their spring P2 titles; Coello and Tapia retook the lead with the Rome Major in June and then won the last four P2s of the year. By the Germany P2, the No 1s led the Race by 2,200 points, according to Padel Addict.
What comes next
There are no P2s left on the 2026 calendar. The Milan P1 is under way, followed by the Kuwait Major, the Dubai P1, the Mexico Major and the Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona in December, where the top eight pairs in the Race qualify.
