Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello go into the Milano P1 this week as the joint world No 1s, with 11 of the 19 Premier Padel titles decided so far in 2026. Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto have won seven, and a new pair, Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz, has reached the last two finals of the season.
Eleven titles from nineteen events
Coello and Tapia's haul covers every category: the Italy and Paris Majors, the Riyadh, Valencia, Málaga and London P1s, and the Cancún, Valladolid, Bordeaux, Rotterdam and Germany P2s. Their most recent title came in Düsseldorf on Sunday 11 October, where they beat Stupaczuk and Sanz 6-2 7-6 without dropping a set all week. That made it three tournaments in a row since the Paris Major.
They have not been untouchable. Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger came from a set down to beat them 2-6 6-3 6-3 in the Brussels P2 final in April, the Argentine-Spanish pair's first title together. In Madrid in September, Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas knocked them out in the quarter-finals. After winning in Rome in June, Tapia summed up the mood of the camp: "This victory represents what we have been working towards for a long time," he told the FIP.
Galán and Chingotto's spring surge
For a few months the balance of power looked different. Galán and Chingotto won the Gijón P2, the Miami P1, the NewGiza P2, the Asunción P2 and then the Buenos Aires P1, where they thrashed Coello and Tapia 6-2 6-1 in May without losing a set all week. Premier Padel counted it as their fifth title in eight events.
Rome turned the season around. Coello and Tapia won that Major final 7-5 7-6, and Galán and Chingotto have not beaten them in a final since. The Spanish-Argentine pair still added the Pretoria P1, against Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal, and the Madrid P1, where they beat Nieto and Yanguas 6-4 5-7 6-4 despite converting only three of 24 break points. Their most painful afternoon came in Paris, where they served for the title in the third set before losing the tie-break 7-1.
Stupaczuk and Sanz: a new pair with quick results
Stupaczuk and Sanz only joined forces in September. Stupaczuk had split from Mike Yanguas after the London P1, and Sanz had left Coki Nieto. Their partnership made its debut at the Madrid P1, with Stupaczuk back alongside a left-handed partner for the first time since 2022.
The results came quickly. In Rotterdam they beat Galán and Chingotto 6-4 6-4 in the quarter-finals and then Nieto and Yanguas to reach their first Premier Padel final together, which they lost 6-3 6-2 to Coello and Tapia on 4 October. A week later in Düsseldorf they made the final again, beating Galán and Chingotto once more on the way, and pushed the No 1s to a second-set tie-break.
The rankings in October and the run-in
The FIP ranking published on 12 October has Tapia and Coello level at No 1 on 19,840 points, ahead of Galán and Chingotto on 16,860. Behind them the gap is large: Lebrón is fifth with 7,590, Augsburger sixth with 7,140, Stupaczuk seventh with 6,090, Paquito Navarro eighth and Sanz ninth with 5,590. In the season Race, Coello and Tapia lead Galán and Chingotto by 13,820 points to 11,620.
What it means: the year-end No 1 spot is now Coello and Tapia's to lose, but the margin is not decisive with the Milano P1 (12–18 October), the Kuwait Major (26–31 October), the Dubai P1, the Mexico Major (23–29 November) and the Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona still to play. Two Majors are worth 2,000 Race points each, so Galán and Chingotto can still close the gap. Live points are on our padel rankings page.
