Emma Raducanu kicks off preparation for grass season

British tennis star Emma Raducanu has kicked off her preparation for the grass season.

On Sunday, Raducanu posted a video on her Instagram Story, in which she can be seen walking on a grass court.

Raducanu captioned the video: “First steps onto this, hello pretty.”

Raducanu last played at the French Open, where she was beaten in the second round by Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

After finishing her campaign in Paris, Raducanu returned home and has now started her preparation for the grass season.

Raducanu on the Wimbledon situation

There is a growing fear that top players might decide to skip this year’s Wimbledon following the removal of ranking points from the tournament.

“I think that it’s definitely a pretty sad situation for all of the players. When we are out on the court, it’s still the same, you still want to win and nothing is going to change in that sense. For me, I personally will play Wimbledon whatever. I have a got a lot of points coming off but for me it doesn’t really matter whatever the situation is, I am here to play and I will play whatever the situation is,” Raducanu explained.

Unlike last year when Raducanu came to Wimbledon without any pressure or expectations, this year it will be a completely different story.

Cameron Norrie advised Raducanu to embrace the challenge and try to do her best at Wimbledon this year.

“She has had a lot of attention after the US Open – I don’t think it will be any easier around Wimbledon. Hopefully she will go and embrace it. She knows exactly how much attention she will get. It will be even more.” Norrie said. “I was in college enjoying myself and living a more normal life. She is very mature, very well spoken and hopefully she can let her tennis do the talking at Wimbledon. She played great there last year. Hopefully she can use the home crowd to her advantage – people will be loving her.”
