Eurosport tennis expert Alex Corretja thought Stefanos Tsitsipas delivered a great all-around performance versus Mikael Ymer at the French Open.
Fourth-seeded Tsitsipas was all about business on the court on Saturday as he dismantled Ymer 6-2 6-2 6-1 to progress into the last-16 at Roland Garros.Ā
Tsitsipas had a great serving display as he won 83 percenf ot his points on the first serve, 80 percent of his second serve points and saved the lone break point he faced.Ā
Tsitsipas was almost untouchable on his serve, while he claimed a total of seven breaks during the match.Ā
āI liked the way he was playing,ā Corretja said in the Eurosport studio. āHe was moving well and playing aggressively. It was in totally different conditions. First match was a night session, and the second match was wet and he did not find his way. Today the sun was out and he was hitting the ball much harder with more spin.ā
Corretja: Tsitsipas definitely needs to serve well
Tsitsipas didn’t make a convincing start to the French Open as he needed five sets in the first round versus Lorenzo Musetti and four sets versus Zdenek Kolar, respectively.Ā
āHe needs the forehand as his backhand when he gets spin into the ball it is good as it bounces high, but if he does not hit the spin they (opponents) can hit it flat to his backhand and thatās when he struggles,ā Corretja said. āIf he serves well it is much easier as he is inside the court and if he is inside the baseline, he is dangerous.ā
Tsitsipas will be fighting agaiinst rising Danish star Holger Rune for a place in the French Open quarterfinal.Ā
Tsitsipas reached his maiden and lone Grand Slam final at the French Open last year.Ā
In the final, Tsitsipas missed out on a great chance to win his first Grand Slam as he blew a two-set lead versus Novak Djokovic.
Now, Tsitsipas is hoping to make his second Grand Slam final and lift his first Major title.Ā
