Potapova on the Brink of Transylvania Open Glory

Anastasia Potapova is one step away from clinching the Transylvania Open title and making history in her career.

The top-seeded Russian powered past lucky loser Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-3, 7-5, securing her spot in the final in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Potapova, currently ranked World No. 32, has now improved to an impressive 9-3 record this season.

Road to the Final

Playing her first tournament as the No.1 seed, Potapova displayed resilience and precision, booking her place in her sixth career final. Standing between her and the trophy is Italian Lucia Bronzetti, who advanced after fifth seed Katerina Siniakova retired while trailing 4-0 in the second semifinal.

Potapova boasts a flawless 4-0 head-to-head record against Bronzetti and is chasing her third career WTA title, aiming for her first hard-court championship since Linz 2023.

Bronzetti Eyes Upset

Ranked No. 72 in the world, Bronzetti is making her fourth WTA Tour final appearance. The Italian, seeking her second career title and first since her 2023 Rabat triumph, will need to overcome Potapova’s dominant form to claim victory.
