The 20-year-old will make her BJK Cup debut in this year’s final.
2024 US Open runner up Jessica Pegula will not compete for Team USA at this year’s BJK Cup finals.
The USTA announced the news on Wednesday, saying the Ashlyn Krueger will replace her on the team.
Krueger will join Danielle Collins, Peyton Stearns, Taylor Townsend and Caroline Dolehide on the U.S. Billie Jean King Cup team competing in the upcoming Finals, to be played November 13-20 in Malaga, Spain.
It will be a BJK Cup debut for Krueger, a 6-foot-1 20-year-old from Dallas who notched three wins over Top-25 players over the summer and reached the third round of the US Open. She’s currently ranked No. 65 in singles and No. 64 in doubles.
Krueger took out teen sensation Mirra Andreeva, 6-1, 6-4 on the Grandstand at this year’s US Open, as she broke the 17-year-old’s serve six times and dominated from the baseline to win in 64 minutes. She is a former Orange Bowl and USTA 18s champion.
