Sabalenka, Jabeur, Dimitrov, Tiafoe Lead Washington DC Player Field

Top names headline the upcoming 2024 Mubadala Citi Open event in Washington D.C.

Tennis fans in Washington, D.C. will once again be treated to world class tennis as several top players headline this yearā€™s ATP/WTA 500 Mubadala Citi Open.

While the long-running tournament will take place at the same time as the Summer Games in Paris, many top players will be on site in the nationā€™s capital. Thatā€™s due to several players choosing not to compete at the Olympics for various reasons. The field includes nine of the worldā€™s top 20 players.

Reigning two-time Australian Open champion and World No. 3 Aryna Sabalenka will return to the event for the first time since 2017. Her inclusion is a bit of surprise given that Sabalenka was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon due to a shoulder injury.

Two-time Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur will return to DC for the first time since 2019.

The womenā€™s field will also include Daria Kasatkina, Madison Keys, Victoria Azarenka, Sloane Stephens, Sofia Kenin, and 2022 winner Liudmila Samsonova. Emma Raducanu and Paula Badosa are also in the field as wildcards.

World No. 10 Grigor Dimitrov will be the top seed on the menā€™s draw for his eighth appearance at the event.

Frances Tiafoe, who grew up in Maryland, will play in his home tournament for the eighth time. Tiafoe, who reached the US Open semifinals in 2023, recently took Carlos Alcaraz to five sets at Wimbledon.

Fellow Americans Ben Shelton, former finalist MacKenzie McDonald and Sebastian Korda are also in the field.

ā€œWe are very proud of the deep player field ready to compete in Washington DC at the 2024 Mubadala Citi DC Open,ā€ said Mark Ein, Mubadala Citi DC Open Chairman. ā€œWe have assembled a fantastic group featuring Grand Slam Champions, former World No 1ā€™s, top 10 players and many of the gameā€™s biggest fan favorites. In less than a month, DC will host one of the summerā€™s largest events, drawing the worldā€™s best players and tennis fans. With record breaking ticket sales, an impressive roster of athletes and an extraordinary fan experience on-site, we are anticipating another unforgettable tournament.ā€

This yearā€™s event takes place from July 27 to August 4.
