Muchova Ready for Grass Return

The 2023 Roland Garros finalist will play Eastbourne next week in preparation for Wimbledon starting July 1st.

British lawn will be a happy landing place for Karolina Muchova.

The 2023 Roland Garros runner-up announced she will launch her comeback from wrist surgery at Eastbourne next week in preparation for Wimbledon, which starts on July 1st.

Former world No. 8 Muchova announced her grass-court comeback on social media.

“10 months out but finally- See you at the tournaments Eastbourne & Wimbledon,” Muchova posted.

A two-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist, Muchova reached the US Open semifinals in her last major appearance. She underwent right wrist surgery last February.

At the 2023 Roland Garros, Muchova made a spirited comeback to reach her maiden major final.

Staring down a match point at 2-5 and losing her legs against world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka, the cramping Czech met the moment with calm defiance.

Firing a forehand winner to erase match point, Muchova surged through 20 of the last 24 points and five straight games, shocking the second-seeded Sabalenka 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 7-5 to battle into her first major final at Roland Garros.

The 27-year-old Czech has not played a Tour-level match since her 6-4, 7-5 US Open semifinal loss to eventual-champion Coco Gauff last September, however she has shared training video on her social media channels in recent weeks. Muchova looks fit and eager.
