Carlos Alcaraz reveals keys to his success

Carlos Alcaraz has made a stunning improvement over the last 12 months as he is now one of the best players on the ATP Tour.

12 months ago, Alcaraz was just a promising 17-year-old kid who was awarded a main draw wildcard into Madrid.

Now, Alcaraz is not a promising player anymore – he is now a tennis star and a contender for the biggest titles.

Last year, Alcaraz defeated Adrian Mannarino in the Madrid first round before losing to Rafael Nadal in the second round.

Alcaraz now has four ATP titles in his collection and he is enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 9 in the world.

During his pre-tournament press conference, Alcaraz was asked to explain the keys to his success.

Alcaraz: Mentally, physically I improved a lot

“I think that as a player I have grown a lot, [and also] as a person,” Alcaraz explained, per Tennishead.

“Last year I came here to live these kinds of matches, to be able to gain some experience, to be able to level myself against the best players in the world. Now I consider myself one of them.

“I would say my fitness has been important but definitely the most important part has been the mental game. I feel I have grown up so much in that part.

“That is why I am the world number nine right now and that is why I am playing at a good level. That is why I have been able to win great matches, so I think [my mentality] is the most important thing.”

Alcaraz lifted his maiden Masters title after beating Casper Ruud in the Miami final.

After winning Miami, Alcaraz said that he feels physicaly and mentally ready to win a Grand Slam.

Alcaraz isn’t lacking any confidence in himself and he is definitely someone who will be among favorites for the French Open title.

Last year, Alcaraz reached the French Open third round as a qualifier.
