Aryna Sabalenka achieves another very impressive rankings milestone

Aryna Sabalenka has achieved a very notable rankings milestone as the Belarusian entered her 150th consecutive week in the top-10 this Monday. On November 16th, 2020, Sabalenka rose to No 10 in the world. Since then, Sabalenka hasn’t exited the top-10 a single time. For Sabalenka, this is just yet another statement on her consistency. After the US Open – on September 11th – Sabalenka officially became the world No 1 for the first time in her career after replacing Iga Swiatek at the top spot. After chasing the world No 1 ranking for a really long time, 25-year-old Sabalenka finally managed to accomplish one of her biggest tennis goals.

Sabalenka on reaching the world No 1 ranking

After winning this year’s Australian Open, Sabalenka climbed up to No 2 in the world. Sabalenka spent there the next seven months before she finally managed to overtake Swiatek at the top spot. After Swiatek suffered a round-of-16 loss at the US Open, Sabalenka learned she would be replacing the Pole at the world No 1 spot after the final tournament of the season. “I’m super happy with this achievement in my career, but, I mean, it’s not a big change. You know, I mean, I have been No 2. Now I’m No 1. It’s just a difference of position in the draw. I still have to bring my best tennis. I still have to play my best. People will try to, yeah, just try to chase me and get me. But it just an extra motivation for me. You know, seeing them, like, really trying their best to beat me, it’s, like, an extra power and energy for me to keep playing, keep pushing, keep getting better,” Sabalenka said after securing the world No 1 spot. Also this Monday, Sabalenka entered her third week at the world No 1 ranking.
