Barbora Krejcikova funnily revealed she needed to figure out how to get her San Diego trophies back home with her since all of her three allowed bags were already full. On Saturday, Czech tennis star Krejcikova enjoyed a double triumph at the San Diego Open. After beating Sofia Kenin 6-4 2-6 6-4 in the San Diego singles final, Krejcikova returned to the court as she and Katerina Siniakova defeated Danielle Collins and CoCo Vandeweghe 6-1 6-4 in the San Diego doubles final. “First of all, I’d like to start (by saying that) I don’t know how I’m going to bring all these amazing trophies back home because I already have three bags (laughs). Coming from New York and I think I’m only allowed to have three bags, so, I don’t know what I’m going to do (laughs),” Krejcikova said.

Krejcikova beat Kenin in three sets
After easily losing the second set, Krejcikova was able to prevent Kenin from completing a comeback win. After saving four break points in the ninth game to take a 5-4 lead in the third set, Krejcikova broke Kenin in the 10th game – in the game where the American was serving to stay in the match. “It was a big battle. I knew it was going to be difficult, that [Kenin] was going to go for every single ball and that she was going to fight until the end,” Krejcikova said. Prior to San Diego, Krejcikova was 0-3 on hard courts this summer. After a disappointing first-round exit at the US Open, Krejcikova bounced back by winning San Diego. “I came here with not really good statistics after my injury, I didn’t actually win any matches. So I just came here and I pretty much was hoping and believing that I could get the first win and go from there. It’s pretty special to be sitting here having won [the title],” Krejcikova said.
