In the spring of 2022, Mouratoglou started coaching Simona Halep. After Simona Halep was handed a doping ban, Mouratoglou agreed to join Rune’s team for the remainder of the 2022 season. The Rune and Mouratoglou partnership got off to a very strong start as the Dane won Stockholm and then also lifted his first Masters title in Paris. Following his Paris win, Rune also broke into the top-10 for the first time in his career. Since Halep’s ban wasn’t lifted before the start of the 2023 season, Mouratoglou continued to work with Rune. This year, Rune won an ATP 250 event in Munich and also finished as runner-up at the Masters events in Monte Carlo in Rome. But Rune didn’t manage to accomplish his goal of becoming a Grand Slam champion this year. After suffering his third consecutive loss at the US Open, Rune made a decision to part ways with Mouratoglou.
