Daniil Medvedev says he absolutely does not want to be remembered for his tantrums and outbursts as the Russian is hoping people will rather remember him for “the funny things” he does on the court. Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, has a certain charisma and he knows how to connect with the crowds and tennis fans. Often, Medvedev pulls a shot or does something that makes the crowd laugh and engages them more with the match. But Medvedev also has another side, which can be sometimes seen when he is extremely frustrated and annoyed on the court
“If it’s a good thing, yeah. I don’t like for sure to be known for let’s say some tantrums or things like this because that’s some of the things I regret,” Medvedev said.
Medvedev: Remember me for the fun things
“About the fun things, for sure I love it. I love the fact that, I mean, now social media is everything, so maybe when I’m 50 years old I could go and still see my videos with some funny things. Maybe you know they’re going to show it to the kids who will not see me play. Say, Look, there was a guy who did these crazy things on the court. Hopefully the good ones. Which should I choose like the best one? I had some good ones. Yeah, I would go for my speeches. I love my speeches and interviews after the match. I will not choose one. Yeah, the US Open final when I lost to Rafa was quite fun because I was for sure disappointed, but I managed to play it good,” Medvedev added.
Meanwhile, Medvedev defeated Marton Fucsovics to progress into the Wimbledon round-of-16. After being banned from Wimbledon last year, Medvedev is having a positive return to The Championships. So far, Medvedev has been received well in his return to The All England Club. It remains to be seen if Medvedev can potentially win his second Grand Slam at Wimbledon.
