Roger Federer addresses retirement life, interest in tennis

Roger Federer admits he has been living a more relaxed life after retiring from tennis and revealed he is still interested in tennis and follows tennis highlights and results daily.

Federer, who will be turning 42 in August, officially retired from pro tennis in late September after the 2022 Laver Cup.

Since retiring, Federer has been spending lots of quality time with his wife and four kids.

“I spend time with the family differently. I’m more relaxed because I know I have more days or more hours available. But I was always with the family, even if it was a huge logistical task,” Federer said, via Simon Graf.

Although Federer isn’t watching many tennis matches, he regularly follows results and watches highlights.

“What surprises me is how interested I am in the results. I don’t watch many matches, but the highlights interest me enormously. I check the scores three or four times a day. I’m glad that tennis still interests me so much,” Federer said.

Federer on if he still plays tennis

“Only with the children. I’ve never booked a court with friends and said, ‘Come on, let’s go train now.’ But I’m often on the court with the children. I love playing with them,” Federer revealed.

In his farewell at the Laver Cup, Federer played just one doubles match with Rafael Nadal.

After undergoing three knee surgeries in recent years, Federer’s knee is still not as good as it used to be.

Because of his knee condition, Federer hasn’t yet appeared in any exhibition matches.

“If the body was in top shape, I would probably play a few exhibitions. I still go to the gym four or five times a week and try to get my body back into shape with my knee. That’s why I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything,” Federer said.
