Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu took a moment to thank everyone who showed support while she was going through a dark period.
Last December, Andreescu announced her withdrawal from the Australian Open and said she would be out indefinitely.
In a lengthy message posted on her Twitter, Andreescu revealed 2020 and 2021 had been extremely difficult for her and it took a toll on her.
This week in Stuttgart, Andreescu player her first tournament of the year.
“I wanted to take some time to thank everyone who has stuck by me through the last couple of years (u know who u are), including all my fans. U have no idea how much it all means to me. I’m blessed to continue the journey God has given me and will never take it for granted,” Andreescu tweeted,

Andreescu enjoyed being back on the court
In her first tournament of the year, Andreescu showed some promising signs as he defeated Jule Niemeier before falling short in three sets to top-10 player Aryna Sabalenka.
“But wow, what a joy to be back competing again,” Andreescu said in another tweet.

In Stuttgart, Andreescu revealed there was time she contemplated walking away from the game.
“I’m being really honest here, but I actually wanted to quit the sport,” Andreescu told WTA Insider this week in Stuttgart.
“It was really bad. I am privileged in a way for having this opportunity and doing all of this. Now I’m very grateful, more than ever. So I don’t want people to think, ‘Oh you’re a little baby, just suck it up.’ But it was an accumulation of two-and-a-half years. A lot had happened and I just didn’t want to deal with anything anymore.”
Andreescu, the 2019 US Open champion, is just 21 and she is still definitely one of the most talented players on the tour.
