Casper Ruud predicts ‘ridiculous’ Novak Djokovic’s Grand Slam future

Casper Ruud thinks Novak Djokovic is “not done yet” when it comes to lifting Grand Slam titles.

Djokovic, 36, defeated 24-year-old Ruud 7-6 (1) 6-3 7-5 in the French Open final to win a record 23rd Grand Slam title.

Even though Djokovic now owns the all-time Grand Slam record in the men’s game, Ruud doesn’t expect the Serb to slow down.

Ruud, who is now 0-3 in his Grand Slam finals, now also has a 0-5 head-to-head against Djokovic.

ā€œHe holds all the records and these stats that are just ridiculous. Just shows how complete of a player he is. He can win on any surface, anywhere, any balls that we play with. He will be up for the challenge. And now itā€™s probably the most significant record that he breaks of 23 Slams. But Iā€™m sure he will aim for even more if I know him the right way. Heā€™s not done yet, I think. Heā€™s one of the biggest legends of our sport, and hopefully one day I can beat him. But at the Grand Slam level, itā€™s going to be tough, for sure,” Ruud said, per Firstpost.

Ruud backs Djokovic for more Grand Slam success

Now, the time has come for one of Djokovic’s favorite parts of the season.

At Wimbledon, Djokovic is a seven-time champion – he has one less Wimbledon title than Roger Federer.

After winning the French Open, Djokovic said “the journey is not over” and noted he is already looking forward to Wimbledon.

“Of course [the] journey is still not over. I feel, you know, if I’m winning slams, why even think about, you know, ending the career that already has been going on for 20 years. So I still feel motivated, I still feel inspired to play the best tennis on these tournaments the most, you know, Grand Slams. Those are the ones that count I guess the most in history of our sport,” Djokovic said.
