Holger Rune wins second luxurious BMW but still doesn’t have a driver’s license

Holger Rune collected a second luxurious BMW but he still does not have a driver’s license.

Rune, 19, won his first ATP title at the BMW Open in Munich last year.

Since BMW is the main sponsor of the Munich tournament, Rune also received a luxurious BMW as a reward for his victorious run.

This year, Rune returned to Munich and successfully defended his title.

For this year’s Munich victory, Rune was rewarded with an all-electric BMW i4 M50.

The tradition is to have the winner drive the BMW on the court – but since Rune does not have a driving license – he just sat down in the passenger seat.

Rune on what happened with the BMW he won last year

ā€œI still havenā€™t got my driverā€™s license. Itā€™s on my list but itā€™s very time consuming. The winning car from last year has become our family car now. Mostly my father drives it,” Rune told BILD before the start of his 2023 Munich campaign.

After Rune won his second Munich title, the BMW representatives congratulated the 19-year-old Dane.

ā€œOn behalf of the BMW Group, I would like to congratulate Holger Rune on his fantastic performance and title at the BMW Open by American Express 2023. We are proud to have been the title partner of this magnificent tournament since 1987 and to provide a stage for world-class tennis in the singles and doubles competitions, as well as for para-athletes. The BMW i4 M50 is also a high-performance sports car and guarantees our winner all-electric driving pleasure,ā€ said Pieter Nota, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

Meanwhile, Rune is already looking forward to the 2024 BMW Open.

“It was a struggle. I never thought that I could get back into the match again. I was playing on the very limit and am overjoyed to have won here again. I am already looking forward to the 2024 BMW Open by American Express,ā€ Rune said.
