Caroline Garcia says she and coach Bertrand Perret have put their past issues behind them and are focused on making again strong results.
Just before the start of the 2022 WTA Finals, Garcia and Perret shockingly split.Ā
When the news of Garcia and Perret split became public, many were stunned considering how well the Frenchwoman was doing in the second part of the 2022 season.Ā
However, there were reports at the time indicating that there was a falling-out between the two.Ā
After struggling with her game in early 2023, Garcia decided to reunite with coach Perret.Ā
Garci hopes Perrett leads her to successĀ
“Why we split up, why we come back (together), itās part of the past. Itās a good chemistry between the two of us and he understands very well my aggressive game style. Heās open-minded to make me train inside the court or to make me return in that position. Itās paying off. Now we are just focused on the present and what can we do and what can we improve for the future,” Garcia said.
After a strong 2022 season, Garcia was hoping to kick off her 2023 season with a style and win the Australian Open.Ā
At the Australian Open, Garcia made the round-of-16 before surprisingly losing to Magda Linette.
After the Australian Open, Garcia finished as runner-up in Lyon and Monterrey.
But after two positive runs in Lyon and Monterrey, Garcia didn’t have great runs in Indian Wells and Miami.Ā
Even though Garcia made the finals at WTA 250 events in Lyon and Monterrey, it was evident that her game was just missing something.
Two weeks ago, Garcia reunited with coach Perret.
This week, Garcia kicked off her clay season in Stuttgart.
In their first tournament back, Garcia made the quarterfinal.
It remains to be seen if coach Perret can help Garcia turn around her season and accomplish her goal of winning a Grand Slam.
