Alexander Zverev Takes a Swipe at Daniil Medvedev’s Fair Play at Monte Carlo Masters

Alexander Zverev has once again taken a swipe at his fellow tennis player Daniil Medvedev. Zverev claimed that he has never been a player who uses tricks to throw off his opponent, unlike Medvedev. After a grueling match at the Monte Carlo Masters where he was beaten by Medvedev, Zverev reportedly called the Russian player “one of the most unfair players in the world”.

“I have never used a bathroom break to my advantage or taken an unnecessary time out. I win and lose with tennis and I’m very proud of that,” Zverev said in Munich, per Florian Heer. The two players had strong words for each other, with Zverev criticizing Medvedev’s lack of fair play and sportsmanship, and Medvedev telling Zverev to look at himself in the mirror.

Medvedev had claimed that several players mocked Zverev’s comments, saying that he is “living in his own world.” This is not the first time that the two players have exchanged barbs, and it remains to be seen whether they will put their differences aside and focus on the game.
