Netflix renews Break Point for a second season! The US company operating in the streaming distribution of films, television series and other entertainment content via the Internet has in fact decided to renew Break Point, the new series on the world of tennis, for a second season.
The first five episodes of Break Point were released before the start of the Australian Open 2023,Ā and revealed some very interesting background on the season.
Netflix has chosen to focus attention on some of the best athletes on the Tours and the protagonists on this occasion were Nick Kyrgios, Matteo Berrettini, Ajla Tomljanovic, Taylor Fritz, Ons Jabeur, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Casper Ruud.
Break Point, as usual has not received only positive reviews. One of the most present criticisms on social networks concerns the narrative choice not to dwell too much on the rivalries that characterize a competitive sport such as tennis.

Netflix Break Point
Simon Briggs, journalist of The Daily Telegraph newspaper, expressed his opinion in an article. “Where is the hate? It’s a missed opportunity. They turned Nick Kyrgios into a stuffed animal.
A tennis player who on any list of the sport’s most divided athletes, would be with Tyson Fury and Ronnie O’Sullivan. After all the hype that surrounded this project, Break Point should have delved to the surface of planet tennis and revealed the underlying feuds and factions.
Maybe it’s these lofty expectations that made the tone gentle and non-controversial. There’s no sign of the ferocious behind-the-scenes that turned Netflix’s former venture, Drive To Survive, into a behemoth.”
One of the first objectives that Andrea Gaudenzi set himself after becoming the president of the ATP was precisely the possibility of reducing the distances between players and fans through content capable of showing the background of the tennis season from a different perspective.
He told: “Let’s take a look at what Netflix and Formula 1 have achieved with Drive to Survive. This is why we are excited to partner with Netflix on a docu-series about tennis, alongside the WTA and the Grand Slams.
Tennis has many personalities, great rivalries and many stories to tell. I will be happy if we can attract new fans with this formula and through this content.”
