Emma Raducanu withdraws from Eisenhower Cup in Indian Wells

British tennis player Emma Raducanu’s return to action has been delayed once again after she withdrew from the Eisenhower Cup in Indian Wells.

Raducanu, who has been out of action since the Australian Open, was set to team up with Cameron Norrie in the mixed doubles event.

However, she pulled out just hours before the Tie Break Tens event was scheduled to begin. This comes after Raducanu was forced to withdraw from a WTA 250 event in Austin due to tonsillitis.

Despite these setbacks, it is being reported that Raducanu is still planning to compete in the Indian Wells women’s singles event.

“Emma Raducanu isn’t returning to the court tonight in mixed doubles with Cam Norrie. A spokesman said that her withdrawal is a ‘case of monitoring the body very carefully’ ahead of her first-round match in Indian Wells on Thursday,” Stuart Fraser of The Times reporter.

Emma Raducanu’s opponent for the first round of Indian Wells has been confirmed as Danka Kovinic.

The two players previously met at the 2022 Australian Open, where Kovinic secured a three-set victory over Raducanu.

While Raducanu has not played since the Australian Open, Kovinic has struggled recently, losing her last three matches.

This will be Raducanu’s third appearance at Indian Wells, having made her debut in 2021 as a seeded player but was defeated in the first round by Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

In 2022, she managed to win her first-round match against Caroline Garcia but lost to Petra Martic in the third round. It remains to be seen how Raducanu will fare in this year’s tournament.
