Emma Raducanu to return to action at inaugural ATX Open in Texas

Emma Raducanu has been confirmed for the inaugural ATX Open in Texas, the tournament announced.

Raducanu, 20, is set to highlight the inaugural ATX Open player field.

Between February 27 – March 05, the ATX Open in Texas will be taking place.

Raducanu, who sustained an ankle injury in the first week of the season, is now expected to play Texas before WTA 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami.

“We are thrilled that Emma, the youngest Grand Slam champion in the game today, will be coming to the ATX Open. We look forward to her joining Danielle, Sloane and Peyton for our inaugural tournament, and are very excited to know that we will be welcoming them to Austin in less than one month,” said Christo Van Rensburg, DropShot Series Tournament Director.

Raducanu will return to action in Texas

At the start of the 2023 season, Raducanu has appeared in two tournaments.

In her first tournament of the year, Raducanu won her Auckland opener before badly twisting her ankle in her round-of-16 match.

After retiring injured her Auckland round-of-16, Raducanu was able to get fit enough to play at the Australian Open.

In Melbourne, Raducanu started with a straight-set win over Tamara Korpatsch before losing to Cori Gauff in the second round.

But despite the early Australian Open exit, Raducanu stayed in positive spirits as she is confident she and her new coach Sebastian Sachs are doing a good job.

“I’ve had some niggles in the past few months, and I just need to get that sorted, train, and then we’ll see after that. But I’m actually just looking forward to putting in the work, and I feel, as I said before, I’m putting in a good system in place, and I’m really buying into and trusting the work that I’m doing with Sebastian and the rest of the team. I’m feeling good and confident that in six months time I know it’s not going to be, like, the finished product, but hopefully I would have made strides,” Raducanu said.

It remains to be seen how well Raducanu can do in Texas.
