After a crazy match to say the least, Jannik Sinner beats Hungarian tennis player Marton Fucsovics in a comeback and reaches the round of 16 of the Australian Open 2023, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.
The Italian starts badly and loses both the first and second sets, makes several mistakes and throws away the first part of the match. Sinner changes completely in the third set, improves his attitude and reaches the best version of him while on the other side Fucsovics has slowed down and dropped the distance.
A very important meeting with Sinner who remains in the running, the only Italian among the men still in the running and who thus accesses the round of 16 of the tournament. Three hours and 36 minutes of play with Jannik finishing with the result of 4-6 4-6 6-1 6-2 6-0.
Australian Open: Jannik Sinner vs Marton Fucsovics’ highlights
An absolute domination from the second set onwards and a real lesson inflicted by Jannik from the first point of the third set. Before this match Sinner was down 2 to 1 in the previous matches against the Hungarian while now the two are equal.
For the first time in his career Jannik comes back from down two sets to zero, conquers a good victory and thus wins the chance to reach the round of 16 of the tournament. Jannik will face in the next act the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the one who last year eliminated Jannik in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
On that occasion it was a one-sided challenge, the Greek gave our number one a real tennis lesson and now Jannik has the chance to take a good revenge. Tsitsipas vs Sinner will probably be the big match of the round of 16 of the tournament.

Sinner said about the match: “It was certainly a complicated match, also from a tactical point of view. When I managed to break at the beginning of the third, I found more confidence and was able to play better tennis. I obviously had to change some things during the match because the others didn’t work.
These are the games I look forward to the most, knowing he is one of the best players in the world. I definitely changed my game a bit compared to last year. I hope it’s a good game, like I said, these are the games I look forward to, the ones I train hard for. We’ll see how this year goes.
I like to play in the morning, especially in Grand Slams. At least you already have a fixed time and you don’t have to prepare the match without knowing what time you will play. You also have a little more time to recover, which is never a bad thing. In reality, however, it doesn’t make too much difference to me, winning a couple of games in three sets is always good, but obviously every day is different from the other and you have to accept that.”
