Rising Spanish star Alejandro Davidovich Fokina joked he just wanted a beer after a long week of tennis.
On Sunday, Davidovich Fokina suffered a straight-set defeat in his maiden Masters final.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, seeded at No. 3, defeated Davidovich Fokina 6-3 7-6 (3) in the Monte Carlo Masters final to win his first title of the year.
Even though Davidovich Fokina failed to lift the title, it was a memorable and an impressive campaign for him.
Davidovich Fokina stunned world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the second round, before he also defeated David Goffin, Taylor Fritz and Grigor Dimitrov, respectively.
“You know, was a tough week (smiling). A lot of emotions. My body now is going down. Maybe I need a beer or something,” Davidovich Fokina said after the final.

Davidovich Fokina fought hard but Tsitsipas was better
Davidovich Fokina got off to a positive start to the match as he claimed the first break in the third game.
Unfortunately for Davidovich Fokina, his lead was short-lived as Tsitsipas broke him in the fourth and eighth games to overturn the deficit and win the opener.
After losing the first set, Davidovich Fokina got broken in the opening game of the second set.
Davidovich Fokina got the break back in the fourth game but got broken again in the ninth game.
Davidovich Fokina managed to break back Tsitsipas in the 10th game and force a tie-break but he ran out of gas as the Greek dominated the tie-break to seal a straight-set win.
“He fought in moments I didn’t expect him to fight,” Tsitsipas said. “He can hit incredible winners out of nowhere and play unpredictably. But I was able to minimise that. I knew he would be a dangerous opponent but that is a great win for me. I think we will see great results from him in the future.”
Following his runner-up finish in Monte Carlo, Davidovich Fokina rose to a career-high ranking of No. 27 in the world.
