Emma Raducanu visits Melbourne’s Elwood Beach (PICS+WATCH)

Emma Raducanu visited Melbourne’s Elwood Beach as her recovery from an ankle injury appears to be trending in the right direction.

On Monday, Raducanu practiced in Melbourne and also visited one of the local beaches.

Here are the photos and videos from Raducanu’s visit to Elwood Beach.

“It [the injury] was really unfortunate because I was feeling great about my season, I was feeling really good with the preparation I did physically. And I just had an accident on the court, I don’t know what I could’ve done to really prevent that. I’m just taking it a day at a time and just trying every single day as best as possible to see and make progress. We’ll see hopefully by Monday or whenever the tournament starts, I’ll be OK and ready. We’re just taking it a day at a time and not trying to expect too much at this point,” Raducanu said on Monday.

Raducanu hoping to be fit for the Australian Open

Raducanu kicked off her 2023 season at last week’s ASB Classic in Auckland.

In her first match of the season, Raducanu recovered from a set and a break down to beat rising Czech teen Linda Fruhvirtova.

Due to the persistent rain, Raducanu’s round-of-16 match was moved to indoors.

Raducanu bageled Viktoria Kuzmova in the first set of their Auckland round-of-16 match but then badly rolled her ankle late in the second set.

Raducanu lost the second set and then retired the match while fighting tears.

Now, Raducanu is in Melbourne.

On Monday, Raducanu had a very light practice, which didn’t involve much movement.

The Australian Open starts in a week and the hope is that Raducanu will be fit enough to play at the opening Grand Slam of the season.

Last year, Raducanu made her Australian Open debut.

It remains to be seen how will Raducanu progress from an ankle injury in the next couple of days.
