French tennis star Caroline Garcia revealed that her WhatsApp “crashed for two days” after she won the biggest title of her career at the WTA Finals.
On Monday, Garcia defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final at the WTA Finals.
But shortly after winning the WTA Finals, Garcia hopped on a plane to join the French team for the tie against the Netherlands.
This weekend, France defeated the Netherlands in a Billie Jean King Cup playoff tie.
“I saw that I had so many messages that my WhatsApp crashed for two days (laughs). We’ll see how it goes next week, but I could see that there was a pretty incredible enthusiasm and it warmed my heart,” Garcia said, per We Love Tennis France.
Garcia capped off her year on the best possible way
After struggling with her game and results in recent seasons, Garcia rediscovered her best tennis in the second part of the 2022 season.
In the last five months, Garcia captured a total of four titles – including a maiden WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati and a first WTA Finals title.
As a result, Garcia also returned to No 4 in the world – the ranking she previously achieved in 2018.
āItās definitely a lot of giant happiness. A crazy final, a lot of intensity on every point. Just really proud of the work we did through all the year. It was a great match — really went for it. Iām really happy to win my biggest title. Just very happy about the mindset, to be really calm at every moment. All the negative emotion doesnāt affect me, and that was really a big part of taking the few opportunities I had in the tiebreaker and the first game I broke her in the second,” Garcia said after winning the WTA Finals.
In 2023, Garcia’s top goal will certainly be to win a Grand Slam.
