World No 7 Aryna Sabalenka jokingly declared herself as “the Queen of Double Faults” after serving 398 double faults in 2022.
Sabalenka, 24, is preparing to make her second WTA Finals appearance.
On Friday, the draw took place and Sabalenka cracked a joke when asked about her astonishing number of double faults in 2022.
“I think I was the Queen of Double Faults this season. If you guys have any questions, I think my coach is here somewhere,” Sabalenka told WTA Insider.

Sabalenka served 39 double faults in her first two matches in 2022
Sabalenka started her 2022 season by playing back-to-back WTA events in Adelaide.
In those two tournaments, Sabalenka lost her openers as she served 18 double faults in her first match of the year while she served 21 doubles faults in her second match of the year.
Just before the start of the US Open, Sabalenka revealed she hired help to help her address her service issues.
“I changed a lot on my serve. I wouldn’t say the technique, I just worked with a biomechanic guy who is really good. He’s helping me as a coach with my serve, and we are working a lot on my serve and my game. So I think that’s why I kind of kept playing better,” Sabalenka said in August.
Also in August, Sabalenka admitted she had several failed attempts to improve her serve.
“We tried everything this season, and nothing really worked well for me with this serve. I think we just were looking for something that can help me. There were a lot of things that I was doing wrong on my serve. Right now I think I’m on the right way to fix it. I’m working on a lot of stuff to fix my serve,” Sabalenka said.
Meanwhile, seventh-seeded Sabalenka was placed in Nancy Richey Group.
In the group stage, Sabalenka will be battling Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula, and Maria Sakkari.
