Classy in victory, Barbora Krejcikova drops major praise on Iga Swiatek

Barbora Krejcikova called Iga Swiatek “the most dominant WTA player” and said it was a pleasure to share the stage with such a star.

On Sunday, Krejcikova defeated Swiatek 5-7 7-6 (4) 6-3 in the Ostrava final.

Krejcikova, a home player in Ostrava, was delighted after ensuring that the Ostrava title would stay home.

“Trophy is staying at home this year! Thanks everyone in the arena for making such an electric atmosphere! And for so many beautiful messages I have received after my match today, it means a world to me,” Krejcikova wrote on Instagram.

Krejcikova has now won back-to-back titles.

A week earlier, Krejcikova won Tallinn.

Now, Krejcikova has two singles titles in 2022.

Krejcikova, who enjoyed a great 2021 season, didn’t enjoy much singles success in the first part of the 2022 season.

But Krejcikova insists she was positive about her season even before winning Tallinn and Ostrava.

This season, Krejcikova captured three Grand Slam doubles titles alongside Katerina Siniakova.

Krejcikova and Siniakova won titles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open.

“I saw the season very positive anyway. Even though singles wasn’t maybe working very well, I had amazing results in doubles all season. So I saw the season as positive. So I told myself let’s try and finish on a positive note as well. This is a big positive note,” Krejcikova told WTA insider.

This week, Krejcikova was scheduled to compete at the Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca but she pulled out of the tournament.
