Coach Patrick Mouratoglou opens on how he feels about Simona Halep

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou is excited about his partnership with Simona Halep as he feels the Romanian is a special talent and an “incredible player.”

On Thursday, Mouratoglou took to Twitter to announce he has become the new full-time head coach of Halep.Ā

After splitting with her long-term coach Darren Cahill, Halep added Adrian Marcu and Daniel Dobre to her coaching staff.Ā

However, Halep’s stint with Marcu and Dobre was short-lived as she fired the two coaches after the Australian Open.Ā

Halep, a two-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1, hasn’t won a Grand Slam since 2019 Wimbledon but she feels she can achieve more major things in the game.Ā

Mouratoglou hopes to guide Halep to successĀ

“First of all, sheā€™s an incredible player. I mean, we all know [that] because sheā€™s achieved so much, but also the quality of her game when you see her play, I think itā€™s super exciting. I love to watch her play tennis because itā€™s such great tennis, she has a very complete game. She can do a lot of things. Sheā€™s great in defence, sheā€™s great in offense. I donā€™t see any limit there,” Mouratoglou told Tennis Majors.Ā

“And I love working with her because even though weā€™re not working for a long time yet, what Iā€™ve seen so far is great. Her work ethic is incredible. From the first second sheā€™s on the court, the focus is just total focus, from the first ball to the last one, which is quite rare.

“I mean, itā€™s a mark of the champion, clearly, and I love her attitude because she wants to progress on in everything. She is smart and sheā€™s exciting ā€“ excited also to understand and to get new things but sheā€™s an incredible student. She gives 100%. And I think in a small period of time, weā€™ve created a really good relationship in which I feel she really trusts me, and I feel like weā€™re working really well already.”
