Former world No. 9 Andrea Petkovic has revealed that she is also planning to retire in the next couple of weeks.
Petkovic, who will turn 35 on September 9, has been a tennis pro since 2006.
A few days ago, Petkovic captioned one of her Instagram post with a “Last Dance” remark.
Petkovic hasn’t closed the doors on playing some European events this fall but the US Open will definitely be her final Grand Slam.
Petkovic is a seven-time WTA champion and she reached her lone Grand Slam semifinal at the 2014 French Open.
“I leave myself the option to play an additional tournament in Europe after the US Open that is closer to my family and friends – but in general that’s my last tournament,” Petkovic told Sportschau.

Petkovic drew Belinda Bencic
Petkovic, who is now ranked just outside the top-100, drew Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Bencic in the US Open first round.
Going into the match, Bencic is the absolute favorite.
Petkovic and Bencic are well-known to each other, having clashed several times in the past.
Bencic, who is aiming to win her first Grand Slam title at the US Open, owns a 2-1 head-to-head record versus Petkovic on the main level
Bencic and Petkovic met for the first time at the Billie Jean King Cup in 2016.
Back then, Bencic beat Petkovic in straight sets.
Bencic and Petkovic clashed one more time in 2016, with Bencic beat Petkovic in the 2016 US Open.
In 2018, Petkovic claimed a tight three-set win over Bencic in Washington.
On the main level, Bencic owns a 2-1 head-to-head versus Petkovic.
The two also clashed twice in Australia, at the Hopman Cup and Kooyong Classic.
When Bencic and Petkovic clashed at the 2017 Hopman Cup, Bencic won in straight sets.
A year later, Bencic defeated Petkovic at the Kooyong exhibition.
Overall, Bencic has four wins and one loss versus Petkovic.
It remains to be seen if Petkovic can produce a surprise win and stun Bencic.
