Taylor Fritz refused to be negative following his Cincinnati Masters exit as he feels he is in a good form heading into the US Open.
On Friday, Fritz exited Cincinnati in the quarterfinal stage following a 7-6 (1) 6-3 loss to first-seeded Daniil Medvedev.
En route to reaching the Cincinnati quarterfinal, Fritz claimed some notable wins as he defeated Sebastian Baez, Nick Kyrgios and Andrey Rublev.
“Honestly a lot of positives, played very solid, had my chances, didn’t take them – sometimes that’s how it goes. Too good from Daniil today but playing good going into the US Open,” Fritz tweeted.

Medvedev on beating Fritz
Fritz had his chances to win the first set but simply didn’t convert.
In the 10th game – when Medvedev was serving to stay in the first set – Fritz missed out on a set point.
Two games later, Fritz missed out on two more set points.
Fritz paid the price for not converting his set point chances as Medvedev dominated the tie-break to win the first set.
Medvedev then started the second set with an early break and that was enough for him to complete a two-set win.
“Cincinnati fast courts and fast balls and I have always liked it. But always tricky matches, especially between two great servers,” Medvedev said after beating Fritz. “I feel like me and Taylor served good, even if we aren’t John [Isner] maybe! I knew that it was going to be a tight match. The first set he was on top of me a little bit. He had many more chances than I did on my serve, but I managed to stay in. There were some set points where I could have missed and no one would have talked about it, it would have been normal. But I managed to stay in the set and that helped me win the match.”
