‘I don’t think Roger Federer’ll get any further than before’, says analyst

Physiotherapist Juanjo Moreno assures that Carlos Alcaraz’s will to make an effort on the training track and in the gym has been one of the keys to his success. Alcaraz is enormously talented, but he certainly wouldn’t have gotten this far in his career if it wasn’t for his exceptional preparation. Moreno, Alcaraz’s physical therapist, reveals that the 18-year-old understood the importance of physical preparation from day one. Alcaraz, who turns 19 next month, is already a Masters champion and on the verge of breaking into the top-10. Alcaraz has put a strong team around him and is willing to listen to the advice he gets from those close to him. “If I had to highlight two strong points of Carlos, I would prefer his talent and the culture of effort that he has received from the team. We managed to make him understand that, without effort, talent can be lacking, and that at these levels it is essential to take care of all the details,” Moreno told ATP Tour en EspaƱol. On Sunday, Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud 7-5 6-4 in his first Masters final. Having someone like 2003 French Open champion Ferrero in his corner definitely helped Alcaraz before his first major final. Roger Federer has confirmed his participation at the 2022 Laver Cup, which is scheduled to take place towards the end of September.

Christopher Clarey onĀ Roger FedererĀ

Roger FedererĀ is one of the greatest players of all time. He is revered for his exploits on the court and the way he has conducted himself off the court. “I don’t presume to know how he developed personally. I’m not his friend, not a family member. An interview is an interview. Here he is very pleasant, very open. He hasn’t changed at all in certain areas – even if he has become a billionaire in the meantime (laughs). He always asks questions. My first conversation in 2001 was less of an interview and more of a conversation. And in 2019, the last time I spoke to him, it was the same,” Clarey said. The question we all want to know regarding Roger Federer is whether he can win another Grand Slam in his career before calling it a day. “When Roger was last healthy, he was only one point away from winning Wimbledon ā€“ one point! I think he expects to have another good chance. Sure, on paper it didn’t look bad in 2021, he was in the quarterfinals at the age of 39,” Clarey said. Personally, I don’t think he’ll get any further than before, I think there are too many players in the way. But why should Roger think so?”
