Iga Swiatek’s charity event for Ukraine raised 2.5 million PLN (€527,000), according to Przegląd Sportowy.

This past weekend, Swiatek held a charity event called “Iga Swiatek and Friends for Ukraine.”
At the event, Swiatek clashed Polish tennis legend Agnieszka Radwanska and the 2012 Wimbledon runner-up claimed victory over the current world No. 1.
Also, one mixed doubles match was played as Swiatek and Martyn Pavelski defeated Radwanska and Sergiy Stakhovsky.
“It’s amazing. On Saturday in Krakow, I found out how powerful sport is in connecting people and how much we can achieve to help others when we use it wisely. Thank you for the support. Thank you Agnieszka, Sergiy, Martyn, Andriy, Elina for being here,” Swiatek said, per Sportskeeda.
Swiatek keeping Ukraine in her thoughts
Swiatek has been supportive of Ukraine since the start of Russian invasion and she is not too thrilled about the fact that some players have seemingly forgotten about Ukraine.
“I noticed that the memory of the war has diminished. Many players took off the ribbons that they put on in February for two or three matches. I find it a bit inconsistent. This ribbon stayed with me and will remain with me,” Swiatek said.
After the charity event, Swiatek stayed in Poland but just changed cities.
This week, Swiatek is set to debut at the Poland Open in Warsaw.
In the Warsaw first round, Swiatek plays Magdalena French.
“I want to play in Warsaw as long as possible. This is a special tournament for me, playing at home. I know someone may expect I start another winning streak but I just want to have fun on court and present the best tennis,” Swiatek said.
Swiatek’s run of 37 consecutive wins came to an end at Wimbledon and the Pole is now aiming to start another winning streak in Warsaw.
