Carlos Alcaraz reveals his goal for rest of 2022

World No. 6 Carlos Alcaraz says he is not obsessed with his ranking but reveals he would absolutely love to make his ATP Finals debut this year.

Alcaraz, 19, is having an outstanding season and he is the third on the Race to Turin list.

Alcaraz has a realistic shot at finishing inside the top-5 this season but insists it is the prestigious season-ending tournament he is targeting.

“It would be a good goal, but at the moment I’m not thinking about the ranking, but about reaching the ATP Finals in Turin at the end of the season. For me the ranking, at the moment, is not the most important thing, even if I struggle. Keep winning games and tournaments – that’s what will lead me to keep climbing,” Alcaraz said, per Tennishead.

Alcaraz admits his success has left even him positively surprise

“The truth is that a little bit yes [it has been a surprise]. I have had amazing results this year, I didn’t expect to evolve that fast, but I work for it. As I always say, hard work pays off, even if in my case it was all a bit quick and surprising,” Alcaraz added.

It has been a great year for Alcaraz, who has won four titles so far in 2022.

In Miami, while Alcaraz was still 18, he defeated Casper Ruud in the final to lift his first Masters title.

In May, Alcaraz made it all the way on the clay courts of Madrid to win his second Masters title.

Also, Alcaraz claimed victories ATP 500 events in Rio de Janeiro and Barcelona.

However, there was one thing that Alcaraz didn’t accomplish – to win the French Open.

Alcaraz made it clear his goal was to win his first Grand Slam title at the French Open but then suffered a quarterfinal loss to Alexander Zverev.

Alcaraz was also beaten in the Wimbledon last-16 and it remains to be seen if he can win his first Grand Slam at the US Open.
