World No. 2 Ons Jabeur says she has been absolutely enjoying Wimbledon so far as she is hoping to further raise her level and potentially win her maiden Grand Slam title this fortnight.
On Friday, third-seeded Jabeur saw off Diane Parry 6-2 6-3 to reach the Wimbledon last-16 for the second consecutive year.
Jabeur was putting constant pressure on Parry’s serve as she realized 5-of-14 of her break points chances.
“It honestly easy to go down like every time when she slices,” Jabeur said, per the WTA website. “But I love playing here. I want to keep it as short as I can. For now I’m just enjoying really playing on grass. Those few rounds is always tricky. I want to play my best tennis. Obviously if you’re too comfortable, it’s not that good as well. I’m trying to keep focused. … I’m always ready. I’m just trying to play my game and keep it as simple as possible, for sure.”
In the Wimbledon last-16, Jabeur plays Elise Mertens.

Home favorite Watson was also in action on Friday, beating Kaja Juvan 7-6 (6) 6-2.
At the age of 30, Watson has been through to her first Grand Slam round-of-16.
“I’ve been in the third round quite a few times here at Wimbledon and Australian Open. I was just sort of waiting for it to happen. I waited long enough, that has been a goal of mine for, like, 10 years,” Watson said.
After recovering from a break down to win the first set, Watson started the second set with a 5-0 lead.
Juvan managed to cut the deficit to 2-5 but Watson managed to save four break points in the eighth game to complete a straight-set win.
Watson will have a favorable matchup in the last-16 as she plays next Jule Niemeier.
