Andreescu faces Simona Halep next

Andreescu and Halep will be going head-to-head for the second time when they meet in the Bad Homburg semifinal.

At the WTA Finals in 2019, Halep claimed a tight 3-6 7-6 (6) 6-3 win over Andreescu.

In that match, Andreescu missed out on a match point and the Canadian still remembers that match.

On Friday, Andreescu admits she will be extremely motivated to get her revenge against Halep.

“I definitely want to get my revenge,” Andreescu said. “Having match point & screwing that up. I think about that a couple times a month, honestly. Whenever I see her that’s all I think about.”

This week, 22-year-old Andreescu is making her debut on the grass courts of Bad Homburg.

Reflecting on the tournament and the city of Bad Homburg, Andreescu says she is having a thrill.

“I just feel like it has this special energy. I don’t know what it is. I just feel super happy here. Everybody’s so nice & the food is great & the organization. It feels like I’m at a 1,000 [level] tournament, to be honest. So, good vibes,” Andreescu said of Bad Homburg.

Andreescu is having a good week in Bad Homburg and she would certainly love to cap off the week with her first title of the season.
