Jessica Pegula, 28, reacts to breaking into top-10 for first time in her career

Monday was a very special day for Jessica Pegula as she has achieved new career-highs in both singles and doubles.

On Monday, 28-year-old Pegula broke into the top-10 for the first time in her career as he is now the eighth-ranked player on the WTA rankings singls list.

In doubles, Pegula is now ranked at No. 13.

Pegula enjoyed a good French Open as she reached her first quarterfinal in the tournament’s singles event.

In the doubles event, Pegula and Cori Gauff reached the final before losing to Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

“Waking up to some lifelong milestone goals. Top 10 in singles at #8 and Top 15 doubles at #13. Sometimes there arenā€™t words. Just a fist pump, grit, and some determination,” Pegula wrote on Twitter.

Pegula was beaten by eventual champion Iga Swiatek

Pegula clinched four victories at the French Open, before she was stopped by top-seeded Swiatek.

Swiatek, who eventually won the title after beating Cori Gauff in the final, handed Pegula a 6-3 6-2 loss.

Swiatek broke Pegula in the opening game of the match but the American broke back immediately in the following game to even the first set to one game apiece.

Blowing an early break didn’t impact Swiatek, who broke Pegula again in the seventh and ninth games to still pretty easily win the first set.

After winning the first set, Swiatek claimed the first break of the second set in the fourth game and opened a 3-1 lead.

Swiatek earned her fifth and final break of the match in the eighth game, when Pegula was serving to stay in the match.

“I think it was my most solid match here, so I’m pretty happy with the performance. And from A to Z I was pretty focused and I didn’t let Jessica come back in those sets and I’m pretty happy,” Swiatek said after beating Pegula.

Pegula will now take some time to rest and then prepare for the grass season.
