Feliciano Lopez will extend his role as Davis Cup Final 8 Tournament Director for the next three years, overseeing the competition from 2025 to 2027, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced today.

The former world No. 12, who has played a pivotal role in the event’s recent success, previously served as Tournament Director in 2023 and 2024, when the Davis Cup Final 8 was held in Malaga, Spain. His continued leadership will now guide the tournament in its new home in Italy.

Lopez was present in Malaga last November when his close friend and former Davis Cup teammate, Rafael Nadal, bid farewell to professional tennis in an emotional sendoff at the 2024 Davis Cup.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the future of the Davis Cup, Lopez stated:

“The Davis Cup was incredibly special to me as a player, and it has been an honor to serve as Tournament Director for the past two years. I am grateful to the ITF for their trust, and I look forward to contributing to the event’s continued growth in Italy.”

The 2025 Davis Cup Final 8 is set to take place from November 18-23 at the Super Tennis Arena by Bologna Fiere, where Lopez will oversee all tournament operations.

Lopez’s Davis Cup legacy is remarkable. The Spanish star made his debut in 2003 and played a key role in Spain’s victories in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2019. Over his Davis Cup career, he competed in 31 ties, amassing a 19-23 overall record.

One of his most memorable Davis Cup moments came in the 2008 final, where he battled past Juan Martin del Potro in a four-set thriller, helping an underdog Spanish squad—without Nadal—stun Argentina on their home soil.
