The 31-year-old Tomljanovc reached back-to-back Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2021 and 2022.

Last week, Tomljanovic reached the Birmingham final grass bowing to Yulia Putintseva.

It was Tomljanovic’s first Tour-level final since the 2019 Hua Hin.

Last February, Tomljanovic announced she would be putting her tennis career on hold after undergoing surgery to remove non-cancerous tumors from her uterus.

ā€œHello everyone, unfortunately, I wonā€™t be competing for a couple of weeks ā€¦ was very much looking forward to the next hard court events,ā€ Tomljanovic said in an Instagram post accompanied by a photo of her flashing a peace sign from a hospital bed.

ā€œI had to get some uterine fibroids removed and will be watching from home while healing. Will be back soon.ā€

Contesting her fourth tournament since that surgery, Tomljanovic came up big in Birmingham and was rewarded with the Wimbledon wild card.

Four of the eight Wimbledon ladies’ wild card recipientsā€”Angelique Kerber, Naomi Osaka, Briton Emma Raducanu and Caroline Wozniackiā€”are former Grand Slam champions. Osaka, Kerber and Wozniacki each returned to the pro Tour after giving birth.

Four British womenā€”Francesca Jones, Yuriko Lily Miyazaki, Heather Watson andĀ Raducanuā€”received main-draw wild cards.

The Wimbledon main draw is set for July 1-14th.
