Novak Djokovic reveals his next big goal

The victory at the ATP Finals and an extraordinary season do not stop Novak Djokovic, who has revealed his next big goal: winning the Davis Cup. The Serbian champion said it at the beginning of the season and, after obtaining his seventh success at the ATP Finals, he joined his teammates to prepare for theĀ match with Great Britain, for access to the semi-finals. Djokovic took just one day off at the end of the match he won against Jannik Sinner at the ATP Finals and now he will represent Serbia at the Davis Cup Finals. Nole has already managed to win the Davis Cup once in 2011.

For Novak Djokovic the Davis Cup is a goal to be achieved

On the eve of the Davis Cup Finals, Djokovic told the press conference: “I remember my first Davis Cup experience in Belgrade. Obviously it was a great honor. I was very young and the captain asked me to be part of the team. The Davis Cup has historically always been the most important team event in the world of tennis. It has more than 100 years of history. It is the most important tournament a country can win. I hope we have a chance to win it again. I didn’t have much time to celebrate the win at the ATP Finals, although it was fun having my children and family with me. I took a day and a half off and started training again. It’s the last week of the season, so a final effort is needed from all of us. I’m excited because I’ve played an excellent level of tennis, especially in the last four months. I couldn’t be happier with the way I played in Turin starting from the semi-final. I hope I can continue on this path in the Davis Cup. I’m grateful to be here with my team once again. As I said at the beginning of the season, the Davis Cup is one of my biggest goals this year. I hope I can offer my contribution.” Regarding the match against Great Britain, the Serbian analyzed: “I think it is one of the best teams. Obviously they have one of the strongest Federations behind them, they host Wimbledon. Cameron Norrie and Jack Draper should play tomorrow: I haven’t faced left-handed players for a while. It wasn’t easy to find a left-handed sparring partner. Great Britain has many options in both singles and doubles. Andy Murray and Daniel Evans are not here, but Great Britain remain a strong team. They have the best doubles team and it won’t be easy for us to decide who to field. We don’t have doubles specialists, but we are ready to give everything. The atmosphere in the Davis Cup is different to other tournaments and I can’t wait to enjoy it!”
