Naomi Osaka prepares her return to the 2024 Australian Open

Naomi Osaka is ready to come back: the goal is to return to the WTA circuit in 2024. The Japanese tennis player, 4-time Slam champion, returned to the US Open as a guest after her pregnancy and the birth of her first daughter.

The player spoke at an event held in Flushing Meadows which had mental health as its main theme, in the company of US swimming champion Michael Phelps.

Naomi suffered from anxiety and depression, to the point of giving up the press conference at the Roland Garros, cost her many severe criticisms. On the occasion of this recent event, the former world number one revealed the first ones for the near future: the return should be set for next year.

She told: “I remember watching the Australian Open on television and feeling devastated, I had never missed one, I won twice there. While I was watching Serena and Venus I said I could never play like them at that age, then I said to myself ‘but no, I might as well do it. I will definitely play a lot more tournaments than I used to play in the past. I think some people will be happy with it. I think it’s like this because I don’t realize how the beginning will go of the year for me. At least I’ll prepare myself for a great end to the season.”
