Ons Jabeur was extremely thrilled and delighted for the couple who got engaged moments after her Guadalajara second-round match. On Tuesday night in Guadalajara, No 1 seed Jabeur ousted Alycia Parks 6-2 6-2 in her tournament opener. Moments after the match, a couple made their way onto the court and the man got on his knee and proposed to his girlfriend. As it was happening, Jabeur was excitedly jumping and smiling. When the girl said “Yes” and the couple shared a kiss, Jabeur – who has been married since 2015 to former fencer and her current trainer Karim Kamoun – told them: āWelcome to the club!ā Also, Jabeur signed them some tennis balls as a gift from her.

Jabeur on making a positive start in Guadalajara
In the first set, Jabeur broke Parks in the first and seventh games en route to winning the opener. After winning the first set, Jabeur also started the second set with an early break and a 2-0 lead. Down by a set and a break, Parks got her first break and managed to tie the second set to two games apiece. However, blowing an early second-set break didn’t impact Jabeur, who claimed back-to-back breaks in the fifth and seventh games to win four games in a row and complete a two-set win. “Altitude or not, itās always difficult to return [Parksās] serve. Iām glad that I got to break her a couple of times. Definitely my return got a lot of confidence today,” Jabeur said after beating Parks. In her next match, Jabeur plays Martina Trevisan. At the start of the tournament, Jabeur said she was going to take it match by match in Guadalajara. “I’m enjoying, honestly, the fans. I didn’t expect that they know me that well. So I’m really excited about this. I’m just going to take it one match at a time and see what’s going to happen,” Jabeur said in her pre-tournament press conference.
