Paula Badosa shares ‘amazing dream’ she is hoping to achieve with Stefanos Tsitsipas

Paula Badosa says it would be “amazing” if she and Stefanos Tsitsipas indeed managed to accomplish their dream of winning the Australian Open or any other Grand Slam tournament in the same year. After Badosa and Tsitsipas announced themselves as a couple in early June, the Spaniard revealed that earlier this year she had a dream after Tsitsipas’ Australian Open final against Novak Djokovic. Badosa and Tsitsipas – both 25 – have yet to win a Grand Slam and they are hoping to make a breakthrough together in the same Grand Slam tournament. “Yes, that was an amazing dream I had last January after watching him playing the final in Melbourne. I hope one day we can make that dream come true. We both work very hard, but at the same time we try to have fun off the court. On court, though, we work really hard and push each other and motivate each other every morning to be the best version of ourselves. And thatā€™s something I really like to share. We share the same passion and that helps us improve every day,” Badosa told Vicky Georgatou in an interview that was published on SDNA and CLAY.

Badosa on the prospect of her, Tsitsipas winning the same Slam

ā€œIt would be amazing and we will fight for it. Letā€™s see if dreams come true,” Badosa said. Meanwhile, former world No 2 Badosa is out for the remainder of the 2023 season. In May, Badosa sustained a spinal stress fracture in her back. After competing in just Wimbledon since then and most recently withdrawing from the US Open, Badosa decided to end her season. Now, Badosa’s focus is on returning to being fully healthy and also getting herself ready for the 2024 Australian Open. “My injury is not good right now. You need time to recover from a stress fracture and itā€™s a long process. I hope to be ready in January. Right now I shouldnā€™t move because itā€™s the spine and itā€™s very delicate. Hopefully I can be healthy enough to be in the Australian Open and play mixed doubles with Stefanos,” Badosa said.
