Coco Gauff achieves her new career-high ranking following US Open victory

Coco Gauff has achieved a career-high ranking of No 3 in the world following her US Open win and the 19-year-old is now also the highest-ranked American female tennis player. Gauff, who entered the US Open ranked at No 6 in the world, defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final to lift her first Grand Slam title. Following her US Open win, Gauff also reached a new career-high ranking. Also, Gauff replaced her good friend Jessica Pegula as the highest-ranked American female tennis player. Over the last year, Pegula spent the most time being the American No 1 in women’s tennis. Gauff’s previous career-high ranking was the fourth place she achieved in 2022 October.

Gauff reaches a new career-high ranking

Now that Gauff is a Grand Slam champion and that she is the American No 1 in women’s tennis, there will certainly be more pressure and expectations on the 19-year-old. However, Gauff insists she is ready for the spotlight. ā€œI feel like this is a big achievement, but honestly, I feel like I’ve been so used to this since I was basically 15 years old in high school, doing online school, just used to it. I mean, I’m sure it might be a much bigger scale now because of this achievement, but I’m ready. I mean, I embrace it. I know how to keep my peace but also embrace all of this around me,ā€ Gauff said. Although Gauff expects to receive more attention following her US Open win, she also feels relieved knowing that she has accomplished her dream of winning a Grand Slam. ā€œI think the pressure has been taken off a little bit, and I still am hungry for more. But yeah, I’m just going to enjoy this and try not to look into the future,ā€ Gauff said in her press conference after winning the US Open.
