Aleksandar Vukic was the protagonist of a point at the ATP Master 1000 in Toronto which amazed his opponent, Gael Monfils, and the crowd present in the stands. It was something that doesn’t happen so often during a match.
During one rally, the Australian tripped over his shoelaces as he returned from his serve move. However, completely from the ground, he managed to send Gael Monfils’ response across the board not insidious and quite central.
The Frenchman didn’t take advantage of the situation and his rival got back on his feet and postponed every shot to the other side, until it was Vukic himself who found a splendid forehand along the winning line.
The 27-year-old from Sydney almost didn’t quite believe what had just happened to him and Monfils himself was blown away by this point.
Although the strangest and most incredible exchange of the match was won by the Australian tennis player, it was Gael Monfils who won the challenge valid for a place in the quarterfinals of the main draw in Canada.
The final result was 6-4, 6-4 in favor of the Frenchman, who gave himself great satisfaction after a short time after returning from a wrist injury. A good opportunity now to be exploited for the transalpine, who will be able to continue battling to try to pass another round in a tournament that has already had many surprises and recorded the elimination of many seeded players.

Monfils will meet Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner reached the quarterfinals of the Toronto Master 1000 without having to play the round of 16 in the evening session on the central court. The reason is the forfeit a few minutes before the start of the match announced in an interview directly on the playing field by Andy Murray.
The British champion did not fully recover from the tough battle against Max Purcell and communicated to the Canadian crowd that he had fixed a serious problem with his abs, which prevented him from taking the field.
Now the Italians will face the French Gael Monfils to win a place in the semifinals.
