Sakkari opened up following her US Open exit
Prior to her US Open first-round match, Sakkari said her focus at the start of the tournament was just to finally win a Grand Slam match. After picking up back-to-back Grand Slam first-round exits at the French Open and Wimbledon, Sakkari wanted to do better at the US Open. But after Sakkari lost to Masarova, the Greek became very emotional and in tears confessed that she has been going through a rough time lately. “I was very nervous, I don’t know what I’m going to do, I really don’t know, it’s always the same. Maybe I should take a break, I’m suffering on the court. I can’t make a decision now, it’s hard. I don’t have a clear mind,” Sakkari told Greek publication SDNA after her US Open exit.
