The Kazakh defeated the Latvian in three sets, after losing the first set in a tie-break. The former Wimbledon champion beat the former Roland Garros winner with the final score of 6 (6) -7 6-2 6-4, qualifying for the 3rd round of the tournament, where she will face the Italian Jasmine Paolini.
In the other women matches, Iga Swiatek beat Sorana Cirstea in straight sets, while the young ChineseĀ Qinwen Zheng beat the US tennis legend Venus Williams. It came 2nd round win for Coco Gauff, whi eliminated in straight sets with a doubles 6-4 Mayar Sherif.
