ATP Madrid: crowd boos Holger Rune, after new anti-sport gesture

Holger Rune made himself the protagonist of a new unsportsmanlike gesture, this time at the Master 1000 in Madrid, which also on this occasion led him to receive many boos and objections from the crowdĀ in the stands for the entire duration of the match.Ā He continues to be talked about during every game, always in his own way.Ā

Adding the detail that the current opponent was the Spanish Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the Danish tennis player inflamed the atmosphere on the central court of the tournament, bringing it closer to the one already experienced in Monte-Carlo against the Italian Jannik Sinner.

What caused the reaction of viewers against the 20-year-old? One episode. The SpaniardĀ complained about a ball called in by Foxtenn, which according to him would not have touched the line.

Davidovich was entertained during the change of field to dialogue with the judge Carlos Bernardes and with the supervisor. While the referee called both to continue the battle, Rune approached the sign of the dispute and decided to erase it to leave no more traces.

The gesture was not welcomed by the crowd, who booed him repeatedly. It was then Carlos Bernardes himself who clarified himself with the Dane, trying to restore a more serene climate on the court.

From that moment, however, the home crowd entered the game definitively and began to support the Spaniard.

The fight was captivating and beautiful, with lots of interesting exchanges full of incredible shots: the cheering gave a huge hand to Davidovich, who was able to win the match in a very tight third set tie-break (7- 5).
